The Mark Petersen Band takes the stage @ 7p & Hell Country Truckers wraps up the night with a start time of 10p!

The Mark Petersen Band:

The Mark Petersen Band hails from Brainerd, MN & has written songs for Country Legends- such as Sammy Kershaw (Cadillac Style & I Can't Reach Her Anymore), Tim McGraw (Refried Dreams) & George Jones! Mark Petersen is a singer songwriter who is nationally known with himself on vocals & guitar, Ernie Renn on bass & steel guitar & Wayne Vervallin on drums.

According to Petersen’s Facebook page, he was raised in a musical family. His aunts formed a group called "The Petersen Sisters," who performed for area dances in the 1950s & provided the inspiration for him to pick up the bass & guitar. At age 17, as a guitarist, he joined "Black Gold," a local pop country rock band, & when he turned 19, he hit the road with a professional road group called "The Blackwater Band" playing bass guitar. When he was 21, he joined "Steve Hall & The Southbound '76,” & helped them win first place in the "Seagrams Seven International Battle of The Bands" for Minnesota in 1981 & first place in the same category for North Dakota in 1982. Drummer Steve Hall's comedic puppet "Shotgun Red" was discovered as a byproduct of the 1982 national finals, & paved the way for the group to leave the nightclub scene in favor of playing arenas, stadiums, state fairs & cruise ships, eventually leading to a year-long theater stint in Branson, Missouri, in 1990, & a 12-year run as the matinee headliner aboard the General Jackson Showboat at Opryland USA, the post stated. Petersen also served as acoustic guitarist & band leader for RFD-TV's "Shotgun Red Variety Show" for their debut season in 2011.

Peterson’s songwriting career took off in 1991, with the help & guidance of Buddy Kalb at Ray Stevens Music, the publishing company where he also received valuable music business tips from Ray Stevens himself, Ray's manager Don Williams — brother of singer Andy Williams — & Nashville producer & premier guitarist Chet Atkins.

In 1992, he joined the writing staff at Harold Shedd's Music Mill, where he wrote or co-wrote more than 180 songs. The writing staff at that time included Jimmy Stewart, writer of the Earl Thomas Conley/Keith Whitley song "Brotherly Love;" Tony Haselden of “Mama Knows,” “A Little Less Talk” & “You Know Me Better Than That;” Don Von Tress of “Achy Breaky Heart;” & DeWayne Blackwell of “Friends In Low Places.”

Petersen currently lives in Brainerd with his wife & their five adopted cats.

Hell Country Truckers:

Since their inception in 2010, The Hell Country Truckers have been exploring the evolution of traditional country music & fine tuning their interpretation of an authentic sound. Although largely influenced by honky-tonk legends like Merle Haggard & Buck Owens, this young, energetic, & talented group of musicians offer a modern update of classic country music. With twangin’ guitars, infectious rhythms, & lyrics that range from playful to heartfelt, the band’s debut album, “Drinkin’ & Women” offers true country music fans a unique & genuine experience.

The Hell Country Truckers have toured the midwest playing alongside current stars such as the Zac Brown Band & Dierks Bentley. They have also warmed up crowds for classic country proponents like Dwight Yoakam & Dale Watson. Their first single, “My Girlfriend’s a Dancer”, has experienced local radio play & has also gained national & international exposure on satellite radio stations such as Renegade Radio out of Nashville & 2country.net based out of the UK.

Musically, “Drinkin’ & Women” is impressively polished for a debut effort. It offers clever songs about finding, losing, & hanging on to love, as well as methods of coping when its gone. It is comical at times, & sentimental at others, but throughout the entire album, it is clear that the Hell Country Truckers are dedicated to providing a genuine & unique country music experience.
